چکیده

The paper reports on a fast EM algorithm for genomic selection by mapping QTL in genomewide dense SNP marker data. The algorithm called emBayesB was used to analyse a 6000 SNP dataset simulated for the QTLMAS XII workshop. True breeding value was accurately predicted by GEBV with a correlation of 0.85 in the validation data, while the regression coefficient of 0.97 indicated unbiased predictions of breeding value. The results were similar to Bayesian MCMC estimates but were calculated in a fraction of the time. emBayesB was also able to accurately map the location of individual QTL which explain more than 1% of the total genetic variation.

The Impact of Different Genetic Architectures on Accuracy of Genomic Selection Using Three Bayesian Methods

Genome-wide evaluation uses the associations of a large number of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers across the whole genome and then combines the statistical methods with genomic data to predict the genetic values. Genomic predictions relieson linkage disequilibrium (LD) between genetic markers and quantitative trait loci (QTL) in a population. Methods that use all markers simultaneo...

Effects of Marker Density, Number of Quantitative Trait Loci and Heritability of Trait on Genomic Selection Accuracy

The success of genomic selection mainly depends on the extent of linkage disequilibrium (LD) between markers and quantitative trait loci (QTL), number of QTL and heritability (h2) of the traits. The extent of LD depends on the genetic structure of the population and marker density. This study was conducted to determine the effects of marker density, level of heritability, number of QTL, and to ...

Genomic selection combines statistical methods with genomic data to predict genetic values for complex traits.  The accuracy of prediction of genetic values in selected population has a great effect on the success of this selection method. Accuracy of genomic prediction is highly dependent on the statistical model used to estimate marker effects in reference population. Various factors such a...
